Joel Favara represented the core ideals and values of the National Football Foundation; past, present and future—living his best life on the gridiron as well as an educator, a coach and community service coordinator. As an All-American High School Player and 2013 Pima County Sports Hall of Fame inductee, he established alternative learning programs; coordinated a graffiti abatement program; street median beautification and was a grant-writer, securing better streetlights and sidewalks for Tucson neighborhoods. His career also included an NCAA D1 coaching assignment at his alma mater, Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University (OSU)),Arizona Prep Coach of the Year(Safford HS) and a master's in educational administration (UA). His exemplary leadership in football and in the community sets a benchmark for our selection of the Chapter's 12th Man Awardees.
